VENTURA, Calif. (KTLA) — Police on Thursday were searching two men in connection with a deadly shooting near the Ventura County Fairgrounds.

The call came in around 10:20 p.m. on Wednesday about a gunshot victim near the Ventura River bottom, on the west side of the fairgrounds.

Police found a man with multiple gunshot wounds. He later died from his injuries.

The victim was walking on a bike path near the river when he apparently got into an altercation with two other men, investigators said.

The victim was shot, and the two other men fled on foot.

They were both described as Hispanic men in their late teens, police said.

One was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and jeans, and the other had on a white t-shirt and black and white checkered shorts.

The Ventura County Fair had closed at 10 p.m. following its opening day.

It was not clear if any of the men had attended the fair, according to investigators.
