Authorities say a small plane has crashed near South Lake Tahoe, killing one person aboard and leaving another with major injuries.

The single-engine Cessna crashed shortly before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in a wooded area in unincorporated Meyers, about two miles southwest of Lake Tahoe Airport.

The injured person was taken to a hospital in Reno, Nevada.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
