A former American Youth Soccer Organization coach in Lancaster was sentenced Friday to more than 130 years in state prison for molesting 15 children over a period of 17 years.
Renoir Vincent Valenti molested 14 boys, six of whom were soccer players he coached, and a young girl between 1995 and 2012, according to a news release the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
The 54-year-old was found guilty on February 27 of a total of 20 counts: five felony counts of continuous child abuse, four felony counts of lewd act upon a child, and four felony counts of procuring and offering false or forged instrument,
He also was convicted of six misdemeanor counts of child molesting, and one count of disobeying a court order.
The investigation into Valenti began in July 2012 when the mother of a 10-year-old boy said her son had been molested by the defendant.
Prosecutors said Valenti molested 14 boys, six of whom were soccer players he coached, and a young girl between 1995 and 2012,
The victims ranged in age from 8 to 12 years old.
At Friday’s sentencing hearing, Valenti was also ordered to pay a total of $450,000 in victim restitution to be registered as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
