Annie Rose Ramos

Annie Rose Ramos is a general assignment reporter for KTLA 5 News.

She joined the KTLA family in November 2022.

After spending several years living outside California, Annie Rose is thrilled to be back in her hometown, telling stories that impact the community she grew up in.

Annie Rose was born in La Cañada Flintridge and grew up in Pasadena. Her parents are both from East Los Angeles and raised their family of five children to appreciate the rich history of this city – frequently taking their family on day trips to places like La Brea Tar Pits, Angels Flight Railway and Olvera Street.

After graduating from Santa Clara University in Northern California, Annie Rose joined the Peace Corps. It was during her two-year service in Botswana, teaching children in a rural village who were suffering from extreme poverty and malnutrition, that Annie Rose discovered her passion for sharing stories and elevating the voices of those who often go unheard.

After the Peace Corps, Annie Rose attended New York University’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute. Out of school, she was hired as a News Desk Producer for CNN International in Atlanta. While at CNN, she frequently traveled to Havana, Cuba to cover Fidel Castro and Cuba’s relationship with the United States.

From CNN, Annie Rose went on to produce for NBC Network News as a field producer. For over three years, she covered breaking news for the network including a terrorist attack in London, political upheaval in Venezuela, Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and multiple migrant caravans – embedding with the caravans on their journey from Southern Mexico to the U.S. border. It was at NBC News where she received some of her first on-camera opportunities like covering immigration in Texas and violent protests to overthrow the Governor in Puerto Rico.

In wanting to grow as a reporter, Annie Rose went to Baltimore where WJZ 13 hired her for her first full-time reporter position. She covered gun violence, politics and the COVID pandemic and how all these things affected the communities of Baltimore City. It was at WJZ where Annie Rose won two Emmys while covering an explosion that killed two people and left seven others injured.

But throughout her travels and assignments, home and family were calling. And it is a privilege to help bring the news to the people of Los Angeles – including her family – working with the station she grew up watching.
