A 53-year-old motorcyclist died Saturday night after a crash involving a tour bus on a street near the Hollywood Bowl, police said.
Several motorcycles were traveling northbound on Highland Avenue at a high rate of speed about 6 p.m. when one of them collided with the bus, which was passing though an intersection and heading toward an onramp to the the 101 Freeway, witnesses told LAPD investigators.
The victim, a resident of Los Angeles, was transported to L.A. County-USC Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, said police Sgt. Benjamin Zucker. His name was not immediately released, pending notification of next of kin.
No one on the bus was reported injured.
The other motorcyclists did not stop after the crash occurred.
“We have several people that say it was … possibly racing,” Zucker said, referring to the cause of the incident.
