A 46-year-old Littlerock woman was walking on a highway near Palmdale early Saturday morning when she was struck and killed by a hit and run driver, authorities said.
Gloria Carrington was headed west in the middle of a lane on State Route 138, just west of 75th Street East, in Littlerock (map) when the collision occurred, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded and pronounced her dead at the scene.
A description of the vehicle, which was traveling west at the time of the crash, was not available, the CHP said.
The westbound lane of Pearblossom Highway was closed for about two hours, and traffic was diverted onto 75th, as investigators collected evidence at the crash site.
