Homicide detectives were investigating the death of a 3-month-old infant in East Compton Saturday, according to Los Angles County Sheriff’s Department officials.
Deputies responded around 8:15 a.m. to a call reporting a baby not breathing in the 13000 block of South Harris Avenue (map), where the child was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release.
Homicide detectives were summoned to the location because of the infant’s age, authorities said, adding that the case was “being classified as a death investigation.”
The cause of death was unknown and will be determined by Los Angeles County coroner’s officials, the Sheriff’s Department said.
No other information was immediately available.
