Police asked for the publics help Sunday in finding a hit-and-run driver who struck a 40-year-old pedestrian in the Pico-Union area of Central L.A. early in the morning, a Los Angeles Police Department news release stated.

A dark Honda traveling south collided with the man near South Vermont Avenue and Venice Boulevard (map) around 2:45 a.m., the news release stated.

The victim, identified as Juan Mendoza, was transported to a local hospital where he was being treated for his injuries.
