Nina Pham – a Dallas nurse declared free of Ebola weeks after testing positive for the deadly disease – was reunited with her dog Saturday.
Pham tested positive for Ebola after treating Thomas Eric Duncan, the first person diagnosed with the disease in the United Stated, officials said Oct. 12.
Duncan died, but Pham and a second nurse who tested positive for Ebola were later cleared.
Pham’s dog, a Kings Charles Spaniel named Bentley, had been in quarantine and monitored for the disease. Officials said Friday that Bentley was Ebola free.
During a press conference, Pham thanked those who took care of her dog.
“Thank you again for helping take care of Bentley over the last 21 days. Caring for him as if he was your own and showing America that compassion and love is abundant and alive,” she said.
