A Los Angeles couple entered no contest pleas Friday in the hit-and-run death of an aspiring film director whose father and grandfather were federal court judges.
Marguerite Dao Vuong, 67, pleaded no contest to one count of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Her husband Michael Vuong, also 67, entered a no contest plea to one count of accessory to hit and run causing death, the release stated.
David Pregerson, 23, was walking on Chautauqua Boulevard in Pacific Palisades on Dec. 27, 2013, when he was allegedly hit by Marguerite Vuong, on her way to work as a postal worker, prosecutor said.
Pregerson was taken to UCLA Medical Center, where he died on Dec. 31, 2013.
During the investigation, Michael Vuong initially tried to help his wife avoid prosecution by identifying himself as the driver, the release stated.
Sentencing for the couple was scheduled for March 6.
