Police searched a housing area near California State University Northridge for two people who may have been involved in a shooting near the campus Thursday.

Authorities received a call of shots fired in the area of Kinzie Street and Lindley Avenue (map) at about 1:10 p.m., according to Officer Nuria Vanegas of the Los Angeles Police Department. No shooting victims were initially found near the school, she said.

Two men possibly involved in the shooting may have fled into the University Park Apartments area, CSUN posted in an alert on the school’s website at about 1:45 p.m.

One of the men was said to be wearing a baseball cap. The other was wearing a white shirt, white pants and white shoes, according to the Alert.

Students were asked to avoid the University Park Apartments while police searched the area.

At about 5:30 p.m., CSUN said in a Facebook post that the apartments were searched and cleared, and the shelter-in-place order was lifted.
