Several road closures were in effect Friday morning  as President Obama’s Los Angeles visit extended to a second day.

A traffic advisory was issued and motorists were urged by the Los Angeles Police Department to avoid the following areas:

  • The area around West Pico Boulevard between Avenue of the Stars and Westwood Boulevard
  • The area around Overland Avenue between West Olympic Boulevard and National Boulevard
  • The area around South Centinela Avenue between Pico Boulevard and Ocean Park Boulevard

Initially, they were scheduled to be in effect between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. However, the closures were later extended to 10 a.m.

President Obama’s visit began Thursday with a visit to Hollywood where he appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” Later that evening, he was in Santa Monica at a Democratic fundraiser.

First Lady Michelle Obama was also in town Thursday to tape an appearance on “Ellen.”

After leaving the L.A. area, the president touched down in Phoenix around 11:30 a.m.
