A bride in India walked out of her wedding after the groom failed to correctly answer a simple math problem.

According to reports, the ceremony took place on Wednesday near the town of Kanpur in northern Uttar Pradesh state.

The question was: How much is 15 plus six? The groom answered 17.

An upset bride told the groom’s family she left because she was misled about his education. She refused to return.

“The groom’s family kept us in the dark about his poor education,” Mohar Singh, the bride’s father, told the Associated Press. “Even a first grader can answer this.”

Police mediated between the families and all the jewelry and gifts exchanged between the families were returned.

According to tradition, most Indian weddings are arranged by the families. The bride and groom rarely meet before the wedding day.
