A man was fatally struck by a pickup truck in Lake View Terrace Monday morning as he was apparently pushing a shopping cart in the street, police said.
The crash occurred near Terra Bella Street and Foothill Boulevard (map) at about 5:45 a.m., Sgt. Frank Alvarez of the Los Angeles Police Department said.
The victim, believed to be a man in his 60s, was walking in the street with a shopping cart when he was hit by a truck traveling west on Terra Bella Street, according to Alvarez.
Aerial video from Sky5 showed investigators standing beside a white pickup truck with an overturned shopping cart lying in the street just a few feet away.
The victim was pronounced dead following the collision, Alvarez said.
The truck driver did stay at the scene, according to Alvarez.
Terra Bella Street between Foothill Boulevard and the 210 Freeway were closed during the investigation.
