Finally, Ryan Gosling has eaten his cereal.

In a video shared by the actor on Monday, he showed himself pouring a bowl of cereal and eating it in a tribute to Ryan McHenry, 27, the Scottish filmmaker who started the “Ryan Gosling Won’t Eat His Cereal” viral meme.

McHenry died on Sunday after a two-year battle with bone cancer.

McHenry created several videos that show himself offering Gosling a spoonful of cereal. The video clips of Gosling were taken from several films and timed to make it appear the actor was refusing to eat his cereal.

In 2013, shortly after the meme went viral, McHenry discovered a bump on his leg that was later diagnosed as osteosarcoma. McHenry told the Verge he tried to focus on staying positive.

“I kind of feel like I need to be positive for them. If I was on my Twitter or on my Vine being really negative, like ‘this is the worst thing ever, this is horrible,’ it just wouldn’t be nice for people to hear,” McHenry said.

Last month, Gosling acknowledged the meme and tweeted that he loves cereal. McHenry tweeted Gosling to apologize for creating the meme and asked if Gosling would forgive him. Gosling jokingly responded with “No.”

In his last Vine, McHenry took a video of Gosling telling BBC Radio 1 that he loves cereal and showed that Gosling is still refusing to eat his breakfast.
