A hazmat situation in Beverly Hills forced crews to briefly close off a high-density area from any traffic Saturday morning, according to authorities.

The Beverly Hills Police Department announced the closures on Nixle around 11:20 a.m., saying that Wilshire Boulevard was closed between La Cienega and San Vicente boulevards due to a hazmat situation. The closure affected both vehicular and pedestrian traffic, and blocked both sides of the road.

Wilshire between La Cienega and San Vicente runs across three city blocks. The reason for the hazmat situation was not immediately made clear.

As of 12:22 p.m., the closed areas were reopened.
