A girls’ varsity volleyball coach at Burbank High School pleaded not guilty Tuesday during his arraignment on charges related to an alleged sexual relationship with one of his students.
Kyle Patrick Roach was charged with one felony count of oral copulation of a person under 18 and two misdemeanor counts of child molesting or annoyance, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
The 28-year-old Glendale man was accused of engaging in a sexual relationship beginning in 2010 when the victim was 17 years old, the release stated.
He was also accused of anonymously sending sexually explicit text messages to two of his students between February and June 2015, according to the DA’s office.
Roach was scheduled to return to court on Aug. 25.
If convicted as charged, he faced a possible maximum sentence of five years in state prison.
