Police released surveillance video Monday of a man armed with a handgun robbing a Church`s Chicken restaurant in South Los Angeles.

The robbery took place around 10:20 a.m. Sunday at a restaurant on Jefferson Boulevard and Western Avenue.

At one point during the robbery, the gunman became impatient with the clerk and fired a round toward the kitchen, according to Detective Jesus Flores with the Los Angeles Police Department.

No one was struck, but at the time of the robbery a number of people, including young children could be seen inside the restaurant, surveillance video showed.

The robber fled in a dark blue newer-model Nissan Versa without plates, police said.
