The body of a 24-year-old man found shot to death in the San Gabriel Riverbed in Lakewood over the weekend has been identified as Duke Herrera of Norwalk, officials confirmed Monday.
Deputies responding to the riverbed on a report of a “male not breathing” call found Herrera lying at the bottom of an embankment just north of Carson Street on Saturday.
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office confirmed Herrera’s identity Monday.
Herrera had suffered a single gunshot wound to his upper torso, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said when his body was found.
