A male victim was hospitalized Friday morning after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Hollywood, police said.

The collision took place about 4 a.m. in the area of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue, said Sgt. Brian Gura of the Los Angeles Police Department. Officers responded and found the victim near the intersection, suffering from a broken leg, the sergeant said.

He was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center but was expected to recover, according to Gura.

A female driver was later taken into custody by Topanga Division officers, the LAPD said.

The intersection was reopened after a brief closure.

An investigation was ongoing.
