A sexual assault suspect was arrested for allegedly targeting victims while riding a motorized scooter in Riverside County.
The suspect was identified as Ruben Portillo Delgado, 24, according to officials from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Moreno Valley Station.
On May 29, a victim reported a man had exposed himself to her near TownGate Memorial Park in Moreno Valley at around 5 p.m.
The suspect was riding a motorized scooter bike when he allegedly approached the woman and exposed his genitals. He then tried to grab the woman before eventually riding away from the scene.
Deputies arrived in the area but the suspect had already fled.
The next day, on May 30, a similar incident was reported by another woman near the area of Arbor Park Lane and Dracaena Avenue at around 2 p.m. The suspect fled before authorities arrived.
Both women described the suspect as a Hispanic man with a medium build and provided a similar description of his scooter.
On June 4, deputies spotted a man riding a scooter who matched the suspect’s description near Farragut Avenue and Elsworth Street. He was approached and taken into custody at the scene at which point he was identified as Delgado.
Investigators later discovered Delgado was also wanted for a January 2024 incident involving a child who was sexually assaulted at a home in the 12100 block of Indian Street in Moreno Valley.
During that incident, Delgado was eventually confronted by the victim’s family before he fled the home, deputies said.
Delgado was booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center on felony sexual assault charges. He is being held on $1 million bail.
