A woman was placed under arrest after a Los Angeles Police Department pursuit in the San Fernando Valley midday Tuesday.
The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, was behind the wheel of a silver Toyota Camry and Officer Lee told KTLA it is believed to have been stolen.
After traveling erratically on surface streets — sometimes reaching as high as 70 mph — the driver slowed down and came to a stop in the 14700 block of Arminta Street.
The woman hopped out of the vehicle and grabbed something from the trunk before returning to the driver’s seat and covering the windshield with a shade.
The sedan remained stopped until just before 12:30 p.m., when a squad car approached and the Camry took off again.
The driver tried to pull over and blend in again in the 14700 block of Raymer Street, though police located the vehicle.
At 12:40 p.m., the driver took off, sideswiping a utility truck and driving in wrong-way traffic. Police laid down a spike strip that appeared to successfully strike a rear tire, and another spike strip forced the Camry to stop, and two officers held her at gunpoint.
She climbed out through the driver’s side window and surrendered to police.
