A woman, her grandchild and a household employee hid from a crew of home burglars in a terrifying situation in Los Angeles early Thursday morning, according to authorities.
The break-in occurred on Edgerton Drive in Encino at about 12:15 a.m. According to the L.A. Police Department, the thieves shattered a rear glass door to enter the home.
The three inside the house hid in an upstairs bedroom and did not come into contact with the thieves. They were not hurt, police said.
The suspects fled the scene after ransacking the master bedroom and learning of the presence of others in the house, which was before police arrived. They were wearing face masks and zip-up hoodies, authorities said.
The LAPD said the extent of damage to the home and the value of the stolen property is currently unknown.
