A stretch of the coast in Orange County was again closed Monday after three 12-foot sharks were spotted in the water, authorities said.

A 1.1-mile stretch of sand was closed — between Anderson and Warner streets — in the late afternoon after police on a routine helicopter patrol spotted two sharks, according to Lt. Claude Panis of the Huntington Beach Fire Department’s Marine Safety Division.

The city of Huntington Beach later said on Twitter that three 12-foot sharks were spotted off Anderson Street.

Marine safety officials planned to reassess the closure on Tuesday morning.

The beach had been briefly reopened Monday after being closed due to a shark sighting on Sunday.
