Firefighters rescued an elderly woman from burning home in Garden Grove early Friday morning.
The fire was reported just before 3:30 a.m. in the 12500 block of Woodland Lane, the Garden Grove Fire Department stated in a news release.
Firefighters reported heavy smoke and flames, but were able to force entry into the single-story home.
Once inside, crews managed to knock down the blaze and conducted a search of the home, where they found and elderly woman trapped in one of the bedrooms, according to the news release.
The woman, who was not identified, was rescued and treated for smoke inhalation.
Fortunately, the door to her bedroom was closed, which kept a lot of the smoke at bay, the Fire Department stated.
A caregiver who lives in a back house on the property and tried to get the woman out before firefighters arrived also suffered smoke inhalation, according to the Fire Department.
Both women were taken to a local hospital in stable condition, the news release stated.
An investigator determined the fire was started accidentally and the home did not have smoke detectors, according to the Fire Department.
