A 19-year-old Florida woman who was allegedly captured on camera setting fire to a car in Clearwater faces second-degree arson charges, police said Saturday.
Carmen Chamblee’s arrest was announced several days after the Clearwater Police Department posted video of the incident on its Facebook page in an attempt to locate the arsonist.
Police identified Chamblee as the suspect after they received various tips from the public, according to a separate Facebook post on the department’s page.
She was taken into custody just south of Clearwater Saturday morning after being spotted by a Pinellas County sheriff’s deputy.
Chamblee was booked into jail on arson charges, according to her inmate record. Her bail was set at $10,000.
The suspect allegedly told investigators she thought the sedan was her ex-boyfriend’s car, WFTS in Tampa Bay reported.
However, it turned out that the vehicle belonged to someone else, according to the report.
