A man died following gunfire in a gated community in Santa Clarita on Saturday afternoon, and a person was detained for questioning by homicide detectives officials said.

The fatal shooting was first reported about 5:30 p.m. in the 26000 block of Rainbow Glen Drive, according to Deputy Erin Liu of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Information Bureau.

Deputies responding to a report of a gunshot victim encountered the victim, who was suffering from at least one gunshot wound to his “lower torso” and was pronounced dead at the scene, Deputy Marvin Crowder said in a written statement.

“One person is being detained pending questioning from homicide detectives,” he said. “There is no further information at this time.”
