Omar Lewis

Omar Lewis is a general assignment reporter for KTLA 5 News. He joined the news team in August 2023.

Omar’s journey in journalism has taken him to various corners of the country. Prior to joining KTLA 5 News, Omar worked as a weekend morning anchor and reporter at KCPQ-TV in Seattle. 

Before working in the Emerald City, Omar spent nearly 5 years as a weekend morning anchor and reporter at WSVN-TV in Miami, Florida. There, he covered a range of stories, from the cultural melting pot of South Florida to the impact of hurricanes on the community.

Omar is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. He received a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!!!). After completing his undergraduate degree, Omar relocated to Texas where he worked as a multi-media journalist for KXXV-TV in Waco, Texas and later KXAN-TV in Austin, Texas. 

Omar loves calling Southern California home. On the hunt for warmer weather and beaches after living in the Pacific Northwest, he moved to Los Angeles in 2021 and began working as a digital content communications manager at the University of Southern California. He is always interested in trying new restaurants, jogging, and exploring all that Los Angeles has to offer with his husband Michael and their dog Lilo.
