As “Twisters” touches down in theaters, leading man Glen Powell honored another tornado-hunting movie star.

In a post to X, formerly Twitter, Powell honored late actor Bill Paxton, the protagonist in the 1996 film “Twister.” He shared a photo from when the two appeared in the 2013 American Western film “Red Wing.”

“As we release ‘Twisters’ into the world today, I just wanted to look up and tip my hat to the legend that is Bill Paxton,” the “Top Gun: Maverick” actor wrote.

Powell called the fellow Texan “a great friend” and touted him for seeing “poetry in the natural world.”

“His boots are impossible to fill, but this life is all about chasing the greats,” he concluded.

“Twisters” is the stand-alone sequel to the ’90s hit film. It also stars Kiernan Shipka, Anthony Ramos, Daidy Edgar-Jones, Sasha Lane and Maura Tierney.

In 2017 Paxton died of a stroke after heart surgery, according to his death certificate, by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. He was 61 years old.

“Twisters” is in theaters now.
