Director Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated sequel to his 2021 film “Dune” is receiving rave reviews.

Many say “Dune: Part Two” is better than its predecessor.

It hit theaters on Friday and it’s set to be a box-office smash with Variety predicting it’ll earn between $60 million and $80 million this opening weekend.

Fans headed to theaters can expect to see their favorite characters pick up where they left off.

“Both movies are to be designed in a way that both (are) half of the book. We’re not jumping in time,” explained Villeneuve to KTLA 5’s Olivia De Bortoli. “We’re finding our characters right where we left them in ‘Part One.'”

The film stars Timothée Chalamet, Austin Butler, Zendaya, Christopher Walken, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem and Florence Pugh among many other big names.

With such a cast of big names, Chalamet revealed one moment that has stuck with him.

He recalled his “surreal” fight sequence with Butler as he was “surrounded by the titans of acting and movie making” like Walken and others.

Butler had a similar experience.

“Watching films, as a kid, and wondering how they made them and suddenly you’re there and you’re on set, I always feel just so privileged to be there,” he explained.

While this is a science fiction film, those human moments make an impact.

Zendaya credited Villeneuve for achieving those small pieces of humanity.

“I think what he does so well as a filmmaker is allowing for scale and big things to happen and epic things to happen but he never loses sight of things that you are talking about and he wanted to make sure that in this, there is a love story that means something, that is complicated, emotional and connected,” the “Euphoria” actress explained. “He always found those moments to carve those out and give us the time to figure those scenes out.”

“Dune: Part Two” is in theaters now.
