Known as “Chicago’s favorite ice cream,” Rainbow Cone is heading to the Golden State.

Rainbow Cone, known for its sliced (not scooped) ice cream stacks, will open its first California location in Orange County later this year, specifically in Cypress.

The ice cream shop’s menu will include classic flavors like chocolate and strawberry and more modern flavors like Cosmic Birthday and Orange Dream.

The ice cream shop also sells shakes, sundaes, layered ice cream cakes and mini doughnuts.

Local entrepreneur Anne Hsiung plans to develop three Rainbow Cone locations throughout Southern California’s coastal communities.

“My husband and I have always dreamed of opening a family business of our own and passing that legacy on to our children and their children’s children,” Hsiung said in a statement. “When we heard that my favorite childhood ice cream shop was looking to expand outside of Chicago, we knew we needed to bring this delicious, nostalgia-inducing experience to families and visitors in Southern California.”

The company has yet to announce where the other two locations will be located.
