One person was killed, and two others were injured early Sunday following a multi-car crash in Fullerton, officials reported.

The deadly crashed happened just before 2 a.m. on the southbound 57 Freeway, south of Yorba Linda Boulevard. Responding firefighters found one person dead at the scene, and two others suffering from serious injuries, the Fullerton Fire Department reported.

Southbound lanes were closed immediately following the crash, but all lanes have since reopened.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
