Gayle Anderson is getting ready for National Pet Day 2024, on April 11. It’s a day to celebrate and bring awareness to the special bond between humans and their pets.

She was live at the Los Angeles County Agoura Animal Care Center, which is among many shelters where pets are looking for a forever home. Gayle spoke to Brandon McMillan who is an Emmy award-winning animal trainer, author, and television producer known for the CBS show “Lucky Dog” and “Lucky Dog Reunions.”

McMillian is informing those interested in pet adoption about several issues to consider to be sure a pet adoption is successful. He provides all the tips in his guide “How to Pick a Dog from the Shelter.” He said future pet adopters should consider: shelter shock, a lifestyle match, and senior dogs.
