The best Chicago-style pizza, ironically, isn’t in the Windy City, according to Yelp, but right here in the Golden State.
In celebration of National Deep Dish Pizza Day, which occurred on April 5, pizza connoisseurs took to Yelp to identify the top 25 places in the U.S. and Canada to enjoy a slice of Chicago-style pizza.
Heirloom Pizza Co., a pizzeria in Monterey, took the top prize.
The ranking is based on Yelp reviews.
Here are some of the California eateries featured on the list:
- Heirloom Pizza Co. located in Monterey
- Tony’s Little Italy Pizza Company located in Placentia
- Masa of Echo Park, located in Los Angeles
Still, Chicago was represented on the list, with three restaurants from the city named within the top 25. Restaurants in Texas, Nevada and Arizona also made the top 25.
