A family is grieving the death of a 4-year-old girl who was killed in a hit-and-run collision in Harbor City Friday.
The child and her family were leaving the park in the 26000 block of South Vermont Avenue around 8 p.m. when a truck made an illegal U-turn, forcing the father to swerve, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The truck slammed into a post and rolled over, killing the child and injuring her brother and father.
The driver of the vehicle never stopped, according to LAPD.
Family members identified the girl as Jayda Sanchez.
“You killed an innocent girl, you just don’t do that. My brother’s in the hospital, their dad is in the hospital. You don’t do that to people,” Jaylin Media, the victim’s sister, said.
An action that forever changed this family and took a little girl’s life.
The father and young boy were hospitalized with major injuries, but were expected to recover.
“Whoever did this, just come clean, just turn yourself in,” Adriana Rodriguez, Jayda’s mother, said. “You took a poor innocent baby.”
