One person was arrested Saturday morning after a single-vehicle crash on the 60 Freeway in Avocado Heights left a man and woman dead, authorities said.

Shortly before 3 a.m., the vehicle veered off the left side of a connector road from the eastbound 60 Freeway to the 605 Freeway (map) and struck a tree, said Officer Tony Polizzi of the California Highway Patrol.

Two of the vehicle’s four occupants were pronounced dead at the scene, the officer said.

The other two occupants survived the crash, according to the CHP. Their conditions were not immediately known.

One of the survivors was arrested at the crash site, Polizzi said. It was unclear what charges that person was facing.
