The explosion of a garage of a one-story home rattled a neighborhood in Fullerton on Saturday afternoon.

While the incident only left a painter working behind the residence with minor cuts, videos show a chaotic scene in the 200 block of West Valencia Avenue.

“I heard this huge boom… I jumped up then I ran outside,” Jordan Ellis told KTLA. “The whole neighborhood was just running around”

John Radus said the eruption happened at his mother’s house when nobody was home.

A neighbor told Radus he saw a ball of fire and the roof ejected 20 feet up into the air.

The Fullerton Police Department said it received several 911 calls at around 12:44 p.m. and quickly responded along with the Fire Department to contain the scene.

In a 1:29 p.m. tweet, the agency urged the public to stay away from the area.

While the cause remained under investigation, Sgt. John Radus said a natural gas line likely led to the explosion.

“The gas must have been building up for awhile,” Radus said. “It could’ve been anything, a refrigerator turning on or something switching on and off.”

He said neighbors also had some damages in their homes, but was glad nobody was seriously hurt.

“We’re all very blessed,” Radus said.
