1 Killed, 6 Injured After Car Rolls Over and Crashes Into Parked Truck in Tustin: OCFA

One person was killed and six others were injured when a car carrying seven people lost control and crashed in Tustin Friday afternoon.

The crash occurred near the intersection of Legacy and Tustin Ranch roads around 2:40 p.m., the Tustin Police Department said in a news release.

An Infiniti M37 was traveling east on Legacy Road when the driver lost control and veered off the roadway, police said. It hit a cement post, causing it to spin out into the back of a parked Ryder rental truck and overturn, according to investigators.

The car rolled over several times, Lt. Robert Wright told KTLA.

A passenger in the car was declared dead at the scene, and the six others were taken to nearby hospitals, where their conditions were unknown. Those involved had not immediately been identified, police said.

Speed might have been a factor in the incident, but the cause remains under investigation, according to Wright.

Victims had to be extricated from the car, the Orange County Fire Authority tweeted. A witness said the people inside the car appeared to be young and some were screaming.

“All the kids in the car were screaming,” said Nicole Lombardo, a witness. “I was just trying to calm down the one kid that had got out first.”

Lombardo said he had a gash across one side of his forehead, with cuts visible on the other side of his face.

The car had major front end damage and a broken windshield, aerial video from Sky5 showed.
