One person was found dead Sunday afternoon after firefighters extinguished a house fire in the Mid-City neighborhood of Los Angeles, authorities said.

The blaze broke out about 4:51 p.m. in the 1500 block of South Point View Street (map), where smoke was visible in the attic of the single-story home, the Los Angeles Fire Department said on its website.

Due to “heavy storage” in the house, LAFD personnel were able to prevent the fire from spreading and knocked down the flames within 31 minutes, according to the Fire Department.

The unidentified victim was found during a search of the location. No other injuries were reported.

An investigation into the cause of the blaze was underway.

No other information was immediately available.
