Two people were killed and another was injured Tuesday evening in a two-car crash on Pacific Coast Highway in Torrance, authorities said.

The collision happened about 9 p.m. between Zamperini Way and Madison Street (map), near Torrance Municipal Airport, said Sgt. Paul Kranke, spokesman for the Torrance Police Department.

One of the vehicles apparently drifted into an oncoming lane, causing a head-on collision, Kranke said.

The two occupants of one car, a male and a female, were killed. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to a hospital with unknown injuries, according to police.

The three people involved in the crash were adults, Kranke said.

Pacific Coast Highway was closed in both directions as a result of the incident.

An investigation is underway. Anyone with information is asked to call the Torrance Police Department at (310) 328-3456.
