Three days after a water main break caused 10,000 gallons of water to spew into West Hollywood streets per minute, officials said Monday two westbound lanes remained closed on Sunset Boulevard.
The 36-inch pipe broke near Sunset Boulevard and North Olive Drive just as rush hour began Friday afternoon.
Officials worked for multiple days to contain the leak. About 100 gallons continued to gush from the water main per minute Saturday, and the leak was fully contained by Monday.
At the height of the flooding, Sunset Boulevard was closed between North La Cienega Boulevard and North Sweetzer Avenue.
All eastbound lanes were reopened by Monday, but two westbound lanes remained closed because newly laid concrete needed to dry.
Flashing lights could also be seen at Sunset Boulevard and North La Cienega Boulevard (map), forcing cars to come to a compete stop before passing through the intersection.
