Two men were hospitalized following a double stabbing in Sherman Oaks early Tuesday morning.

Police received a call about 12:55 a.m. from a woman reporting the stabbing in the 4600 block of Burnet Avenue, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson said.

Authorities arrived to find two men suffering from stab wounds.

Both victims, who are in their 50s, were transported to a local hospital in critical condition, according to the spokesperson.

One of the men was later listed in stable condition, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The alleged attacker, a 25-year-old man, suffered minor injuries in the incident. He has been taken into custody, the spokesperson said.

He was described as a college student who was apparently visiting his adoptive family when the stabbing occurred, LAPD’s Norma Eisenman told the Times.

The victims were initially described as the father and stepfather of the suspect. Their exact relationship is still unclear.
