Two student pedestrians and a motorist were injured in a fiery two-car crash in front of a high school in Chino Hills on Thursday.

The crash occurred in the afternoon in front of Ruben S. Ayala High School, on Peyton Drive, according to the Chino Valley Fire District.

The driver in one of the cars sustained major injuries, including burns, and was taken via ambulance to a local trauma center. The other driver was not hurt.

A male student who was on foot sustained major injuries and was airlifted from the scene. Another pedestrian, a female student, sustained minor injuries and was released to her parents, the Fire District said.

The charred wreckage of a Honda sedan remained next to the curb, and a power pole appeared to have been struck and toppled into the roadway, aerial video from Sky5 showed.

Peyton Drive was temporarily closed in both directions.

No other details were immediately available.
