2024 Remarkable Women Nominee: Petite Konstantin

Petite Konstantin has made it her mission to ensure people with developmental disabilities have the same opportunities as everyone else, earning her a nomination for Nexstar Media Group’s Remarkable Women award.

For four decades, Konstantin has run the local non-profit, L.A. Goal, which offers adults daily programming ranging from work training to life skills like cooking, gardening and art.

“They have the right to live, laugh, love, be safe, have a job, get married if they want, and do everything that everybody else wants to do,” she told KTLA.

“She is always fighting for the right of people to achieve their greatest potential,” says L.A. Goal board member Susan Baerwald who, with the rest of the board, nominated Konstantin for the recognition.

Every year in March, Nexstar celebrates Women’s History Month by honoring “Remarkable Women” across the country and recognizing one of them as the “Nexstar Woman of the Year.” “Remarkable Women,” a nationwide initiative to honor the influence that women have had on public policy, social progress, and the quality of life, celebrates local women who inspire, lead, and forge the way for other women.

Our more than 200 Nexstar broadcasting stations in 117 markets accept nominations for “Nexstar Woman of the Year.” Based on nominations with universally selected criteria including community contributions, self-achievement, and family impact, each market selects four local women for consideration as that market’s “Remarkable Woman.” Profiles of the top four nominees in each market air on local newscasts every Tuesday during the month of March, and the nominees are featured on the websites of each local television station.

Each market’s “Remarkable Woman” receives a $1,000 contribution on their behalf to a non-profit of their choice and that winner is then considered for “Nexstar Woman of the Year.” The Nexstar Charitable Foundation makes a $10,000 contribution on behalf of the “Nexstar Woman of the Year” to the non-profit organization of her choice.
