Firefighters early Friday morning extinguished a residential fire in Garden Grove that displaced three families, officials said.
The blaze was reported about 10:04 p.m. Thursday in the 14400 block of Flower Street (map), said Capt. Jim Gabbard of the Garden Grove Fire Department.
Firefighters arrived to find flames burning between two homes before the fire spread to a third residence, Gabbard said. All three houses were later deemed uninhabitable.
The firefight was hindered by “pack-rat” conditions in the garage of one of the homes, fire officials said.
“The garage is extremely packed with vehicles and debris, a lot of furniture (and) other items that are combustible, making it very stubborn and difficult to gain access to the scene of the fire,” Gabbard said.
The 3-alarm blaze was extinguished within about three hours.
One firefighter was transported to a hospital with minor injuries, the Fire Department said. No civilian injuries were reported.
Arson investigators responded the the scene of the fire, which displace about 12 people. The cause was not immediately known.
