Three people were hurt after a car involved in a crash slammed into a Carl’s Jr. in Huntington Park Monday afternoon, police said.

Officials initially thought they would find more injured when they responded to the fast-food restaurant’s location at the corner of Florence and Santa Fe avenues around 3:40 p.m., Huntington Park Police Lt. Alfred Martinez said.

Aerial footage showed a Toyota sedan had apparently mowed down bushes separating the eatery’s drive-thru area from the street and crashed into a window near a dining area, becoming almost fully lodged inside.

The Toyota’s driver was heading north on Santa Fe Avenue when her vehicle and another collided, causing the Toyota to veer across the sidewalk and into the building, Martinez said.

The Toyota driver, an adult woman, suffered only minor injuries. But two minors inside the Carl’s Jr. were significantly injured, according to Martinez.

All three were transported in stable condition for treatment at local hospitals. One of the injured was taken to a trauma center, said Vanessa Lozano with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Both drivers involved remained at the scene and were cooperating with investigators, who do not believe intoxication played a role.

Inspectors with the county’s Building and Safety Department were evaluating the restaurant’s structural integrity.

The building was blocked off by caution tape as paramedics and police responded to the scene around 4:10 p.m., and Martinez said it would more than likely be red-tagged once the inspection was complete.
