Police on Tuesday announced that $150,000 in reward money is being offered in the ongoing search for whoever killed a shop owner in El Sereno nearly one year ago.
The victim’s family members joined Los Angeles Police Department officials at a morning news conference announcing the rewards for the arrest and conviction of the suspects responsible for the killing.
Reza Mousavi, 36, was fatally shot outside his marijuana dispensary business in the 4800 block of Huntington Drive on Oct. 28, 2020.
Mousavi was apparently using his cellphone when a man approached and fired multiple shots, The Eastsider reported.
“In this case I suspect there are a ton of witnesses, and we can protect their identity,” LAPD Detective Obrecht told The Eastsider.
Surveillance video recorded outside the business last year shows the killer walking through a parking lot area before pulling out a gun and firing several rounds.
The shooter was wearing a blue Dodgers hoodie and dark colored jeans. Investigators believe the killer got into the passenger side of a gray or beige colored Chevrolet and then fled the scene.
The motive for the shooting remains unclear.
A motion for a $50,000 reward in the case was requested by Los Angeles City Councilman Kevin de León.
“No one deserves to be violently killed on our streets, and no one deserves to get away with such a heinous crime,” de León said during Tuesday’s news conference.
Family members of the victim are contributing an additional $100,000.
