Gregory Thomas Ditto was charged with attempted kidnapping to commit a sexual offense, assault with intent to commit a sexual offense, attempted sexual penetration by a foreign object and sexual battery by restraint, a news release from the DA’s office stated.

The two attacks happened weeks apart, but both occurred in parking structures at the Irvine Spectrum.

In the first attack on July 20, Ditto allegedly approached a woman from behind, picked her up and carried her toward a stairwell. The woman was able to fight him off and he fled, the release stated.

Police identified Ditto as the attacker based on surveillance video from the parking structure, according to the DA’s office.

Two weeks later, on Aug. 2, Ditto is accused approaching a second woman in a different parking structure at the Spectrum and forcing her to the ground.

Ditto allegedly restrained the woman while attempting to sexually assault her, the release stated.

She was able to break free and the attacker fled in a vehicle. The woman was able to provide Ditto’s license plate number to detectives.

Several hours after the second assault, Ditto was arrested in Lake Elsinore.

If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 23 years in state prison.
