A suspected DUI driver was taken into custody Tuesday morning after a high-speed pursuit that began in Fontana and ended in Whittier, the California Highway Patrol said.
Trailed by multiple patrol vehicles, the man transitioned from the westbound 10 Freeway onto surface streets in the La Puente area, then entered the southbound 605 Freeway. He then opened the driver’s-side door while the car was in motion, aerial footage showed.
After coming to a stop on the right shoulder of the 605 near Whittier Boulevard, the driver exited the car and was detained without incident.
The freeway’s southbound lanes were briefly closed while officers cleared the scene.
