Sheriff’s investigators have cordoned off a three-acre area around a parking lot at Sonoma State University in Northern California where a body was found in a shallow grave Wednesday, authorities said.
The body was found by a campus landscaper just after noon, said Sonoma County sheriff’s spokesman Spencer Crum.
“We don’t know if someone dug [a] hole or simply threw dirt on it. We will be out there this morning processing the scene,” Crum said in an email to The Times.
The body is not badly decomposed, Crum said, and the area where it was found is rugged and dense with trees and brush.
